All four of Utah's Republican U.S. House members voted to block the release of an Ethics Committee report on allegations of illegal activity against former Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz.
Reps. Blake Moore, Celeste Maloy, Burgess Owens and John Curtis were among the 206 Republicans who stopped a Democratic-led effort to force the release of the report. None of them responded to a request for comment from Utah Political Watch.
The report contains allegations that Gaetz paid for sex with a girl when she was underage. Gaetz has also been accused of sex trafficking, using illicit drugs and misusing campaign funds.
Gaetz resigned from Congress after President-elect Donald Trump nominated him to serve as Attorney General. Gaetz later withdrew from consideration because of opposition from Senate Republicans and the potential release of the ethics report.
Gaetz visited Utah earlier this year to campaign for Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Trent Staggs. Staggs was defeated by Curtis in the GOP primary election.
